MBA News: Scoretop Scandal Ends with a Thud

After all of the tough talk from various Deans and MBA Admissions Officers, the Scoretop scandal has come to an abrupt end, with very few test takers facing disciplinary action. Of the thousands of visitors to the Scoretop site—a site that illegally posted copyrighted questions from the GMAT—only 12 test takers, all of whom posted GMAT questions on the Scoretop site, will see their scores cancelled and will be ineligible to take the test for three years. Seventy-two test takers who posted messages confirming that they had seen posted questions when they had taken the GMAT had their scores cancelled but are free to retake the test at their convenience.

Only weeks ago, candidates were in hysterics as they were receiving emails from GMAC essentially stating that they were under investigation. Well, the vast majority can finally rest easy, knowing that a mere visit to the Scoretop site was deemed innocuous and that the case is now closed.
