MBA News: MIT Sloan Moves to iPads for Application Review

The MIT Sloan School of Management will start using iPads to review all applications starting with its Class of 2013. Rod Garcia, director of MBA admissions, believes this move will streamline the admissions process by eliminating the possibility of misplaced applications and make it easier for admissions officers who are traveling to conduct interviews, reported the Wall Street Journal. Although providing all 15 admissions team members with an iPad cost approximately $9,500, Garcia estimates that the change will save them $10,000 a year in paper costs by keeping every application online, rather than having to create physical copies of each.

Back in the 1990s, Sloan was one of the first schools to move to mandatory online applications. Could this be the start to an iPad application review trend?
