MBA News: HBS Professor to Lead Oxford’s Said Business School

After spending more than three decades at Harvard Business School, Sylvan C. Coleman Professor of Financial Management Peter Tufano will be the next dean of Oxford’s Said Business School starting in July 2011. Tufano has extensive experience blending finance, psychology, sociology, history and management, and has brought consumer finance into the classroom by creating a joint HBS and Harvard Law School offering on the topic. In addition to his work as an educator, he is a social entrepreneur, having founded the nonprofit organization Doorways to Dreams, and a published author of research on risk management, financial engineering and mutual funds.

Tufano is not the only HBS professor making moves to other business schools—former London Business School dean and Harvard marketing professor John Quelch will become the dean of Ceibs, the Shanghai business school, starting in February 2011.
