MBA News: Harvard Business School Takes on Delves Broughton?

In today’s edition of Harbus, HBS’s student newspaper, students and administration take recent Alumnus Philip Delves Broughton to task for his written account of two years at HBS, entitled Ahead of the Curve. Carl Kester, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, attacks various inaccuracies in the book, stating, “I have been surprised and disappointed to see that in interviews conducted as part of a promotional tour, Mr. Delves Broughton has elected to focus almost exclusively on the negative aspects of his time at HBS with remarks that seem carefully crafted to shock and provoke.” (Of course, Mr. Delves Broughton is trying to use the sensational aspects to sell his book, and Harbus’s focus on the book will only help him do so.)  In addition to Mr. Kester, students take on Mr. Delves Broughton in book reviews and opinion pieces, and one student even defends him.  In fact, almost all of today’s Harbus issue is dedicated to Mr. Delves Broughton and is well worth the read, as it reveals some of seemingly invulnerable HBS’s sensitivities. And, it is always entertaining to be in the middle of a tussle, isn’t it?
