Friday Factoid: HBS’s Many Faces

MBA candidates have a tendency to assume that only one type of applicant gets into Harvard (“leaders”), Kellogg (“team players”) or Columbia (“finance types”), for example. Of course, people are complex, and MBA students have more than one dimension. HBS’s Portrait Project provides an excellent opportunity for you to get to know students through their reflections on their experiences to date and dreams going forward. For example, check out students’ responses to the question posed in the last line of a poem by Pulitzer Prize-winning New England author Mary Oliver: “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” We would be surprised if after reading these, you still felt that HBS has a single “type” of student.
