Stanford and Wharton Share the Top Spot in the 2021 U.S. News MBA Rankings

U.S. News & World Report named the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania the number one MBA program in the United States for the second year in a row in the publication’s recently released 2021 Best Business Schools list. Although Wharton was ranked number one last year as well, this time, it shares the top spot with the Stanford Graduate School of Business, which was previously ranked second.

The number one spot is not the only ranking among the top five schools to be shared, with U.S. News listing both the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in third, while the MIT Sloan School of Management rounds out the top five in fifth. Harvard Business School, which has historically been ranked among the U.S. News top five, is sixth this year—the school’s lowest ranking to date. The only new name in the top ten compared with last year is the New York University Stern School of Business, which was ranked 12th in 2019 but is now tenth. And one of the most notable risers in the top 20 is the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management, which is 23rd in the latest ranking, compared with 29th last year.
