Today, we focus on\u00a0<strong>Joel Greenblatt<\/strong>\u00a0from Columbia Business School (CBS).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9563\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"Joel Greenblatt\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbamission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joel-Greenblatt-224x300.jpg\" alt=\" width=\"143\" height=\"192\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mbamission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joel-Greenblatt-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.mbamission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joel-Greenblatt.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 143px) 100vw, 143px\" \/>An adjunct professor in finance and economics, <strong>Joel Greenblatt\u00a0<\/strong>(\u201cValue and Special Situation Investment\u201d)\u00a0is also the founder of and a managing partner with the hedge fund Gotham Capital. In addition, Greenblatt founded Value Investors Club (www.valueinvestorsclub.com), a members-only, online investment community where the top experts in the industry share ideas. The author of several books, including <em>You Can Be A Stock Market Genius<\/em> <em>Even If You\u2019re Not Too Smart: Uncover the Secret Hiding Places of Stock Market Profits<\/em> (Simon &amp; Schuster, 1997) and <em>The Little Book That Beats the Market <\/em>(Wiley, 2005), Greenblatt is also chairman of a network of charter schools in New York City called the Success Charter Network.<\/p>\n<p>A 2006 <em>New York <\/em>magazine article titled \u201cHow Is a Hedge Fund Like a School?\u201d details Greenblatt\u2019s early work with P.S. 65Q. Using a system comparable to the one Greenblatt employs in his Value Investors Club, the school collects data on its students and develops benchmarks for success.
