In many cases, it demonstrates persistence and genuine interest in a program. However, business schools expect candidates to show meaningful growth in the time since their previous application. That growth can take many forms: an improved GMAT or GRE score, stronger recommendations, better-defined career goals, deeper school research, expanded leadership experience, and\/or more compelling essays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The group also discusses one of the biggest mistakes applicants make: assuming they know exactly why they were rejected. Sometimes, a candidate&#8217;s interview or essays could have been stronger. Other times, the issue is simply that the school had too many strong applicants that year or had shifting institutional priorities outside the applicant\u2019s control. Melissa emphasizes that candidates should focus on the parts of their candidacy that they can improve, rather than obsessing over factors they cannot change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessica and Melissa explain that many qualified applicants fail to differentiate themselves from the rest of the candidate pool, submitting applications that feel generic or that focus on what the candidate <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thinks<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the admissions committee wants to hear, rather than highlighting their unique strengths. Strong applicants, by contrast, clearly explain who they are, what they want to accomplish, and why a specific school is uniquely positioned to help them achieve their goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For reapplicants to programs such as Harvard Business School, the Stanford GSB, UPenn Wharton, Northwestern Kellogg, Columbia Business School, and NYU Stern, the consultants offer practical advice on timing, school selection, demonstrating interest, and mastering the reapplicant essay. They also remind listeners that business school admissions outcomes do not define one\u2019s long-term success.
