This group consists of five subtypes, two of which are minor types:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/gmat\/blog\/flaw-questions-on-gmat-critical-reasoning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Flaw:<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>This is the \u201cflip\u201d of Find the Assumption. The author assumes something, but that thing might not be true. What is the\u00a0<em>flaw<\/em>\u00a0in the author\u2019s reasoning?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattanprep.com\/gmat\/blog\/tackling-a-gmatprep-cr-evaluate-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Evaluate the Argument:<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0What information would help to determine\u00a0<em>whether<\/em>\u00a0the conclusion is more or less likely to be valid?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Evidence Family<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Evidence Family questions really do not have conclusions (never \u201cbig\u201d conclusions, like the Assumption arguments, and usually no conclusions at all). This group consists of two subtypes overall, but only one of these is a minor type:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explain a Discrepancy:<\/strong>\u00a0The argument contains some surprising information or outcome. Which answer choice provides some new information that clears up this surprising situation?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Structure Family<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like Assumption questions, Structure questions do involve conclusions. The answer choices are usually in more \u201cabstract\u201d form, discussing characteristics of pieces of the argument. Both question types here are minor types.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe the Role:<\/strong>\u00a0These are also known as\u00a0<strong>boldface<\/strong>. The boldface portion plays what kind of role in the overall argument?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe the Argument:<\/strong>\u00a0These are a variant of the boldface question, and they are so rare that I do not have an article for you. If you are really worried about these, you can take a look at our CR Strategy guide\u2014but my best advice for you is not to worry about these.<\/p>\n<p>Now what?
