However, the educational experience you will have is what is crucial to your future, and no one will affect your education more than your professors. Today, we focus on\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagobooth.edu\/faculty\/directory\/m\/kevin-m-murphy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kevin Murphy<\/strong><\/a><em>\u00a0from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbamission.com\/guides\/insiders-guides\/chicago-booth-school-of-business-insiders-guide\/\">University of Chicago Booth<\/a> School of Business.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 2005, Chicago Booth professor\u00a0<strong>Kevin Murphy<\/strong>\u2014who has a joint appointment in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago, where he teaches PhD-level courses\u2014became the first business school professor to win the MacArthur Genius Grant, which he received for his groundbreaking economic research. Murphy\u2019s course \u201cAdvanced Microeconomic Analysis\u201d is affectionately called \u201cTurbo Micro\u201d because of its enormous workload. One recent graduate told mbaMission that a typical Chicago Booth class is supposed to be complemented by five hours of homework per week but that Murphy\u2019s course demands roughly 20 hours. So, why would students clamber to take the class? The alumnus with whom we spoke raved that it was taught at the PhD level and that Murphy is deserving of his \u201cgenius\u201d title, pushing students to think about their opinions in profoundly different ways.
