During the discussion, each<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the directors announced that <\/span><strong>application deadlines and essay questions will remain virtually unchanged<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the coming (2020\u20132021) admissions season. Yale, Darden, MIT, and Kellogg leadership explained that they are content with the essay prompts from the past year and anticipate no major changes, encouraging applicants to get started. However, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the assistant dean of admissions at CBS<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stated that she expected her school\u2019s essays to be <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">similar<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but noted that she may change the school\u2019s third essay, encouraging applicants to get started on the first two.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend that you watch the full recording of the webinar below or on our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=igB17wELvKk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube channel<\/a><\/strong> to get the inside scoop on everything the admissions directors shared. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/igB17wELvKk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although essays and deadlines dominated the early part of the session, the admissions officers inevitably discussed hot topics including <\/span><strong>deferrals, fall 2020 matriculation, and the expectations for online GMAT GRE testing. <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are a few highlights and revelations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In response to the question, \u201cWhat will the fall term look like?,\u201d there was a consensus among the admissions directors that both<\/span> <strong>in-person and hybrid options<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be offered in an effort to provide flexibility to those who will not be able to attend classes in person.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accepted candidates who may wish to defer their matriculation to the following year (2021\u20132022) were reminded that each institution will make<\/span> <strong>deferral decisions on a case-by-case basis<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and were encouraged to contact the Admissions Office for more information on the various options in place for them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A popular question from the event\u2019s participants addressed the waiving of GMAT\/GRE testing requirements during the current Round 3 Extended cycle and whether next year\u2019s applicants can expect this waiver to remain in place. In short, the directors explained that though each institution will offer flexible options for test takers (such as taking the exam from home), there are <\/span><strong>no definite plans to continue waiving the testing requirements, as test centers are expected to reopen with time<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each and every one of our panelists sounded an optimistic tone, encouraging strong candidates to continue to apply.
