MBA News: Wharton Alumnus to Manage IPO of Twitter

Anthony Noto—a Goldman Sachs tech banker, former NFL executive and Wharton MBA—has landed one of the biggest tech banking assignments of the year: the initial public offering of Twitter. As Dealbook observes, Noto is charged with the monumental task of “bringing a ubiquitous but financially unproved social network to the public markets.” With some calling Noto “the Don Draper of I.P.O.’s,” this news ought to be a feather in Wharton’s cap. But just how much will the school rejoice over its alumnus’s accomplishment, given the redoubled eagerness to put some distance between its brand and the “finance school” stereotype? Maybe it can leverage this accomplishment to claim that the school is making inroads in the tech world?
