MBA News: Groupon CEO Sings: “You Don’t Need No MBA”

This week, Groupon CEO Andrew Mason’s debut “motivational business music” album—titled Hardly Workin’—hits iTunes and Spotify. With lyrical flourishes such as “I was climbing Machu Picchu / As I beheld the splendid view / An idea came for 100 million / of shareholder value,” Mason’s brand of ’80s-style alternative rock has TechCrunch wondering whether the managerial-inspired album is actually a joke. Forbes offers a more straight-faced review, and though Mason slights business school on his opening track (“If you’re seeking business wisdom / You don’t need no MBA / Look no further than the beauty / That surrounds us every day”), an MBA might not hurt… especially if you are banking on getting a Grammy for putting your professional experience into song.
