MBA News: From MBA to NBA

Kelly Olynyk, a 22-year-old Canadian basketball forward, announced last week that he would forgo his second year of business school and his final basketball season at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, to enter the NBA draft. Olynyk, who completed one semester of Gonzaga’s MBA program after graduating from the school with an accounting degree in December, led what the Associated Press describes as “the best Gonzaga team in program history” to a 32-3 season.  Although Olynyk may be postponing his business prospects, he still speaks like a true business student:  “Nine months ago this wasn’t what I envisioned for today. It came quicker than I expected, and I’ve got to capitalize.”
