MBA News: Kellogg Dean Dipak Jain to Step Down September 1, 2009

In somewhat surprising news out of Kellogg, Dean Dipak C. Jain has announced that he will conclude his eight-year tenure as dean of the graduate business school and return to work as a member of the faculty, a position he first accepted in 1986. In his absence, an interim dean will be appointed until Northwestern’s global search identifies a new, permanent replacement. In a letter to students, Dean Jain states that he is leaving the position “with mixed emotions”—he is proud of the school and what it has become under his leadership but is looking forward to returning to “family and scholarly pursuits.” Like Kellogg’s applicants, students, alumni and faculty, we will follow this story and remain curious about a successor until one has been announced.
